Build the operating model around the work — and make compliance part of it.
Integrate the processes and know-how your organization already depends on, redesign what no longer fits, and connect the resulting operating model to the standards, regulations, internal policies, and contextual constraints that apply.
PEDCO combines process-engineering expertise with the Applied SAFe® Platform to help organizations create one governed way of working instead of maintaining separate process, compliance, and tailoring structures.
One process landscape. Many inputs.
Organizations rarely start with a blank sheet. Existing engineering processes, quality and safety practices, templates, work products, roles, reference models, regulatory obligations, and process tools are already in place.
The objective is not to reproduce every standard as a separate process. It is to design the process that works for the organization and demonstrate how it satisfies the obligations that apply.
- Migrate and reconcile existing process assets
- Design or extend the process where needed
- Reduce unnecessary duplication
- Relate reference models and requirements to the process
- Identify gaps in compliance coverage
- Design context-specific tailoring and variants
- Maintain the process landscape over time
Six services across the process landscape.
Process Migration Service
Often companies have all their process descriptions and defined templates stored in a number of different (legacy) platforms or just as descriptions in Office documents. Migrating such process content into a common and easy to use the open platform is quite a challenge. Analysing such content and migrating it to a state-of-the-art process model is one of our core competencies.
Benefits- Reduce your effort to create a migration approach and speed-up the design of your common process model.
- Templates and work products are defined in a sophisticated work product model to avoid overlaps and increase interfaces and transparency.
- Users gain fast and easy access to needed templates and helpful practices for their daily work.
Process Design & Development
Extend your process development capacity with our specific knowledge and skills. We develop new processes from scratch or based on existing standard models. Use our in-depth skills to engineer light-weight work product models and easy to use practice libraries as part of your onsite team.
Benefits- We construct processes that are optimally suited to your needs and within best practices of elegant process design.
- Our expertise — e.g. the separation of the project (often transient) and application (often long-living) artifacts — releases you from the task of having to start from scratch.
- We are not tied to specific tools or modes of approach. Therefore, we build your processes independently and with a focus on your organisation.
Process Engineering Outsourcing
Outsource some or all of your process engineering tasks into our responsibility and benefit from higher professionalism and lower cost as part of the service level agreement. Potential improvements regarding agile processes, industry-specific reference models or integrated customizations complement our sophisticated service.
Benefits- Concentrate on your core business areas while receiving state-of-the-art quality and process management service including cost-efficiency based on scaling effects.
- Benefit from our experience not only in process engineering but also in lean-agile product development and compliance.
- Excellent know-how transfer — existing and established processes are improved based on common best practices and periodic user feedback.
Reference Model to Agile Mappings
The mapping of defined reference models like Automotive SPICE, CMMI, CTR-180 (FDA), ISO 9000 and many more to agile methodologies is a challenge if you do not have deep knowledge of agile frameworks. We support you in the transformation of your existing processes into an agile methodology while staying compliant with your given standards.
Benefits- Shorten engineering time for your individual agile product development method within given regulatory constraints.
- Extend your existing and proven processes with validated best practices from the global agile community.
- Optionally benefit from the already available solution Applied SAFe®, a comprehensive and customizable implementation of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) as a process model.
AI-Assisted Compliance Mapping & Gap ClosureNew with the platform
Regulated engineering organizations can face many overlapping standards, regulations, internal policies, and customer requirements. Translating each source independently into another process layer creates duplication and makes the process landscape increasingly difficult to manage.
This service uses the Applied SAFe® Platform to map individual requirements to the activities, work products, roles, and practices intended to satisfy them. AI accelerates the mapping, evaluates coverage, identifies requirements that are only partially or not covered, and recommends targeted changes to the operating model.
Benefits- Reduce manual requirement-to-process mapping effort.
- See where one process element satisfies obligations from several sources.
- Identify gaps before an external assessment.
- Keep recommendations traceable to the requirements that triggered them.
- Avoid unnecessary standard-specific process duplication.
- Establish a reusable compliance structure inside the operating model.
Tailoring & Variant Architecture
One organizational process rarely fits every ART, endeavor, product, project, team, supplier model, risk class, or regulatory context. At the same time, maintaining independent local process copies quickly creates fragmentation and makes updates, compliance, and governance difficult.
Tailoring & Variant Architecture defines how one governed organizational baseline resolves into the process that actually applies in each context.
Benefits- Reduce unnecessary process work.
- Let teams work differently where their context genuinely requires it.
- Avoid disconnected local process copies.
- Keep common roles, interfaces, and work products aligned.
- Make regulatory applicability explicit.
- Propagate organizational changes through inherited variants more systematically.

Questions we get
Do we have to replace our existing processes with Applied SAFe®?
No. Existing process knowledge is an input. The work can retain practices that still add value, reconcile them with Applied SAFe®, remove unnecessary duplication, and redesign areas that no longer fit the target operating model.
Do we need a separate process for every standard or reference model?
No. The objective is to maintain an effective organizational process and relate requirements from multiple standards, regulations, and internal policies to the process elements that satisfy them.
Can you migrate process content from existing tools and documents?
Yes. The Process Migration Service addresses process descriptions and templates distributed across legacy platforms, office documents, and other repositories. Tool-specific migration and coexistence can also be addressed as part of the engagement.
What is the difference between Reference Model to Agile Mappings and AI-Assisted Compliance Mapping & Gap Closure?
Reference Model to Agile Mappings is the established consulting service for transforming existing regulated processes toward agile ways of working while retaining compliance with applicable models. AI-Assisted Compliance Mapping & Gap Closure uses the Applied SAFe® Platform to map individual requirements to process elements, evaluate coverage, identify gaps, and generate process-change recommendations that remain linked to the triggering requirements.
Can different projects or ARTs have different processes without creating separate process islands?
Yes. Tailoring & Variant Architecture defines the common organizational baseline and the context rules that determine what applies to each ART, endeavor, product, project, or other context.
Build one process landscape that fits the work and the obligations around it.
Whether you are migrating legacy process assets, designing a new operating model, integrating regulated engineering requirements, or introducing governed variants across the organization, start from the process landscape you have and define the engagement around the target state you need.
